Covers semi-solid lubricants used on bearings, threads, and assembly points.

Bearing greases
- Lithium-complex (general purpose, e.g. Park PPL-1, Phil Wood waterproof)
- Calcium sulfonate (high-pressure, marine, e.g. Phil Wood Tenacious)
- Synthetic PFPE (e.g. Krytox) — for ceramic/high-temp bearings
- NLGI grade explained (0 / 1 / 2 — most bike grease is NLGI 2)
Assembly grease / waterproof grease — headsets, bottom brackets, seatposts (steel-on-alu only)
Anti-seize compounds
- Copper anti-seize — pedals, steel-on-steel high-torque
- Nickel anti-seize — high-temp
- Aluminum anti-seize — most common, OK for most fasteners
- NEVER on carbon parts
Carbon assembly paste (friction paste with grit) — seatposts, stems, bars
Threadlockers
- Loctite 222 (purple, low strength) — small bolts, derailleur hangers
- Loctite 243 (blue, medium) — pedals, disc rotor bolts, chainring bolts
- Loctite 263 (red, high) — rarely on bikes; permanent
Compatibility warnings
- Lithium grease + DOT brake fluid → contamination
- Petroleum grease + EPDM seals → swelling
- Copper anti-seize + galvanic corrosion on alu
